League sources tell us the contest for the Philadelphia Eagles head coaching vacancy will come down to Mike McCoy of the Denver Broncos and Gus Bradley of the Seattle Seahawks. Sources tell us Eagles GM Howie Roseman is torn between hiring a defensive wizard to resurrect the fledgling but talented Eagles defense and or noted offensive guru Mike McCoy to develop young QB Nick Foles.

The Eagles are dedicated to developing Foles into their next franchise QB. Sources tell us Roseman believes his 2nd year QB has Philip Rivers-like upside. However, the plan may be to hire Gus Bradley to fix the defense, and try to lure a noted QB guru to develop Foles. As soon as we can call this, we will post an update. But it’s neck and neck between McCoy and Bradley.

Jacksonville Jaguars to Hire 49ers Coordinator Greg Roman as next Head Coach

Even with the San Francisco 49ers Super Bowl bound, ProSportsReport has learned the Jacksonville Jaguars will ride out playoffs with designs on hiring Greg Roman as their next head coach. Roman has done a miraculous job resurrecting Alex Smith’s career, and an even more impressive effort with raw prospect Colin Kaepernick.

New Jaguars GM David Caldwell believes that 2nd year QB Blaine Gabbert is every bit as talented as Alex Smith was coming out of the 2005 draft. Therefore by retaining Greg Roman as the team’s next head coach, the front office believes Gabbert can become a serviceable QB, if nothing to salvage some value out of spending the 10th pick a couple years ago on the ex-Missouri QB.

We are also informed the Jaguars plan to draft a young QB in this draft, possibly Geno Smith of West Virginia, to groom as the next Colin Kaepernick. Both are similar explosive run-pass athletes. Look for Gabbert to start for the next season, with the intent of fast-tracking Geno Smith to the starter’s job in 2014.

Sources with knowledge of the situation tell ProSportsReport the San Diego Chargers new GM Tom Telesco has handpicked Colts Coordinator Bruce Arians as the team’s next head coach. Arians will bring his exciting passing attack to re-energize the Chargers offense. We’re told Arians belief that Philip Rivers is just as good a QB as fellow draft class QBs Ben Roethlisberger and Eli Manning sealed the deal. League sources with knowledge of the situation tell us that Bears GM Phil Emery has handpicked Tom Clements as the next head coach of the Chicago Bears. Tom Clements is currently the 1st year Offensive Coordinator of the Green Bay Packers. Clements took over this post from Joe Philbin, who left to become head coach of the Miami Dolphins this season.

Sources tell us that Phil Emery’s two finalists were Mike McCoy of the Denver Broncos and Clements. Both are available to be hired asap as both teams have been knocked out of the playoffs. Ultimately, Clement’s background as a QB guru and his intimate knowledge of a division rival’s system put him over the top. Check back for more updates and analysis on this exciting hire!
